Our mission

We plan to transform the Eagle Valley Golf Course into a thriving outdoor sanctuary that will serve the community’s recreational and environmental needs.

Why should you support this project?

The McCutchanville Greenway Park and Nature Preserve is a 501(c)(3) founded by a group of community leaders dedicated to environmental sustainability and improving the quality of life in  McCutchanville.

The project is a response to the rising population’s need for green space in an area of rapid development and real estate growth. We aspire to transform 60 acres of the former golf course into an accessible gathering place for the surrounding communities.

As housing developments expand and traffic on and around Petersburg Road becomes more congested, we prioritize the preservation of natural areas to prevent overcrowding and promote alternate transportation methods. Our goal is to foster McCutchanville’s growth while maintaining its small-town charm that has drawn so many of our families here for generations.

Additionally, the McCutchanville Greenway Park and Nature Preserve will help us embrace McCutchanville’s increasing development by attracting businesses and individuals who value our dedication to community. According to the Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation five-year plan, “a 2022 survey by Project for Public Spaces found that about 80% of respondents would sacrifice salary for an ideal community. This same survey found that 70% of business owners found their community first, then created their business. More than ever, quality of place, including recreation and wellness infrastructure, determines where people are moving.”

A look ahead at the future of this campaign

As support for our organization grows, we will continue to strive for its sustainable future with the development of the following initiatives:

  • Establishment of a McCutchanville Greenway Park Board responsible for the park’s management, maintenance, and further development.
  • Community involvement from local stakeholders, including residents, schools, government officials, and businesses who will help guide the greenway’s future in alignment with community needs.
  • Establishment of a McCutchanville Greenway Park Foundation responsible for planning long-term sustainability and growth for ongoing improvement, programs, partnerships, and funding sources to continually enhance the park’s value for generations to come.
